I have previously written that if the Supreme Court does strike down the infamous Roe vs. Wade abortion decision, that this will NOT decrease abortions in the United States, but actually increase them.

The issue of abortion will now be dealt with at the State level, and some states, like California, will increase abortion services and become “Abortion Tourism States.”

In states that restrict or ban abortions altogether, look for legislation to be adopted that forces employers or the state to pay for pregnant employees who want abortions that are illegal in their state to travel to one of these “Abortion Tourism” states. It will open up a whole new market to make money off of abortions in the U.S.

In California, the State Assembly just passed AB 2223 which will also probably pass the Senate and be signed into law by Governor Newsom, which approves abortions not only through the 3rd trimester, but also after birth in what are called “perinatal deaths.”

California’s Newly Amended ‘Infanticide’ Bill Headed to Senate

Law enforcement will be barred from investigating an infant death under AB 2223

by Katy Grimes
California Globe

Assembly Bill 2223 by Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks (D-Oakland), is an abortion bill misleadingly labeled “Reproductive health,” which actually seeks/sought to legalize infanticide to expand the killing of infants past the moment of birth up to weeks after, the Globe reported.

Assemblywoman Wicks insisted in a hearing in the Assembly Judiciary Committee in April that AB 2223 does not support infanticide, and has only been labeled such because of the spread of misinformation by those who oppose the bill. Wicks said while other states are adopting increasingly aggressive measures to limit abortions, California continues to protect reproductive rights.Wicks says “women should not be prosecuted for a pregnancy loss.”

This bill plays right into Gov. Gavin Newsom’s and Democrats’ plan to promote abortion tourism, inviting tourists to visit California and get an abortion if their own state has abortion restrictions.

Gov. Newsom and the State Legislature are offering taxpayer funds to help out-of-state residents obtain abortions, as well as legalizing infanticide through recently amended legislation. So they need to make sure nothing gets in the way of abortions for all, at any time during the pregnancy.

“Infanticide” is defined as:

  1. The act of killing an infant.
  2. The practice of killing newborn infants.
  3. One who kills an infant.

AB 2223 Amended

AB 2223, passed the Assembly Appropriations Committee in May after approval of an amendment that mostly removed the verbiage decriminalizing infanticide, the California Family Council reported. “Legislators made the change after thousands of pro-life advocates came to Sacramento on April 19 to oppose the bill.”

“The amendment confirmed the concerns California Family Council raised regarding the section that decriminalized ‘perinatal death.’ The change came despite multiple media outlets offering “fact checks” attempting to dismiss California Family Council’s warnings  that AB 2223 would decriminalize killing newborns up to 30 days after birth.”

Is AB 2223 still a threat to unborn and newly born infants?

The amendment changes the bill to read, “perinatal death due to causes that occurred in utero.”

“Pregnancy loss” is how Wicks and proponents describe a fetal or infant death, even if the mother caused the death through “self-managing an abortion,” and even after the baby is born alive.

Assembly Bill 2223 passed the Assembly and is now headed to the Senate.

AB 2223 seeks to change Penal Code section 187, which defines murder as “the unlawful killing of a human being, or a fetus, with malice aforethought.” Reference to “a fetus” was added in 1970 when the California Legislature amended section 187. Attorney General Rob Bonta issued an alert in January stating he “reiterates that the Legislature did not intend to include a pregnant person’s own actions that might result in a miscarriage or stillbirth.”

Despite his interpretation and proclamation, the Attorney General can’t change the Penal Code without passage of Assemblywoman Wicks’ AB 2223.

Even more concerning, according to AB 2223, law enforcement will be barred from investigating an infant death. Bill analysis says, “The bill also limits the duties of coroners to be consistent with laws that protect pregnant persons from civil liability and criminal prosecution for the death of their unborn fetus.”

“So if a coroner investigates the alleged ‘stillborn’ baby’s body and discovers the baby was not still-born, but born breathing and died of asphyxiation, that evidence couldn’t be used to prosecute anyone for infanticide,” the California Family Council explains.

How exactly will law enforcement determine if the death was due to causes in utero or after, without an investigation? Answer: They can’t. “The bill still decriminalizes back-alley abortions by removing punishment for anyone violating any abortion health and safety standards for any reason when performing an abortion on a woman through all nine months of pregnancy, right up to the moment of birth,” the California Family Council said.

Another complication is the language used in the bill.

Americans United for Life writes that, “‘Perinatal’ is not defined in this bill, causing critics to decry AB 2223 as infanticide. Elsewhere in California law, “perinatal care” is defined as “provision of care during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum and neonatal periods.” . . . Absent a definition in the bill, it certainly appears that the intent of this legislation is to legalize child abandonment (or worse) in the first weeks after birth. If this is not the bill sponsors’ intent, they should amend the bill to clarify that the official policy of California is not state-sanctioned infanticide.”

According to the bill’s author, Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks, the bill is about “reproductive justice, pregnancy criminalization, reproductive freedom, and pregnancy loss:”

“A critical part of realizing reproductive justice for people in California is clarifying that nobody will be investigated, prosecuted, or incarcerated for their actual, potential, or alleged pregnancy outcomes.

Pregnancy criminalization is a widespread, national problem, and California is not exempt from this issue. Despite clear law that ending or losing pregnancy is not a crime, prosecutors in this state have charged people for homicide offenses for pregnancy loss.

AB 2223 protects reproductive freedom and decisionmaking by ensuring that no one in the State of California will be prosecuted for ending a pregnancy or experiencing a pregnancy loss. As other states that are hostile to abortion rights are attempting to impose criminal or civil penalties on people who assist others in obtaining an abortion, California must reinforce existing state protections against the criminalization and prosecution of abortion and pregnancy outcomes.”

California Family Council sums up the bill and amendment best:

“Even with the new amendment narrowing the meaning of ‘perinatal death,’ AB 2223 will still prohibit prosecution of a mother or someone assisting her for causing the death of her born or unborn child if the child died because of injuries sustained while in the womb. That would include injuries caused by a botched abortion, illegal drugs such as meth or heroin, or even a beating by a boyfriend, if the woman refuses to press charges.”

Here is how members of the Assembly voted on AB 2223:

Yes on AB 2223 – Aguiar-Curry, Arambula, Bauer-Kahan, Bennett, Bloom, Boerner Horvath, Mia Bonta, Bryan, Calderon, Carrillo, Cervantes, Cooper, Mike Fong, Friedman, Gabriel, Cristina Garcia, Eduardo Garcia, Gipson, Haney, Holden, Irwin, Jones-Sawyer, Kalra, Lee, Levine, Low, Maienschein, Medina, Mullin, Muratsuchi, Nazarian, Petrie-Norris, Quirk, Quirk-Silva, Reyes, Luz Rivas, Robert Rivas, Rodriguez, Blanca Rubio, Santiago, Stone, Ting, Ward, Akilah Weber, Wicks, Wilson, Wood, Rendon.

NEW YORK (LifeSiteNews) — New York’s pro-abortion Democrat governor Kathy Hochul called pro-lifers “Neanderthals” on Monday as she signed six new laws to protect abortion on demand in the Empire State in the event the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision which established a federal “right to abortion” throughout all 50 states

During a live-streamed signing ceremony June 13, the self-professed Catholic governor used apocalyptic language to describe the potential reversal of the federal “right to abortion.”

“My friends, the sky is literally on the verge of falling in the next week or two and that’s why we are here today,” Hochul said.

With the future of Roe v. Wade in jeopardy, we’re taking action to ensure New York remains a safe harbor for any person who needs an abortion — and the six bills I signed today do just that.

— Governor Kathy Hochul (@GovKathyHochul) June 13, 2022

“This is the United States of America, where freedom and liberty are supposed to mean something,” continued the governor, who upon taking office maintained many of the draconian coronavirus mandates instituted by her predecessor Andrew Cuomo.

Hochul went on to accuse pro-life advocates of being “Neanderthals” for seeking to prevent the legal murder of unborn infants.

“It’s the rock upon which we were founded. It’s supposed to mean something except in the eyes of some Neanderthals, who think women are not entitled to those rights,” Hochul said.

The Supreme Court is expected to hand down a decision any day in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which concerns Mississippi’s ban on abortion after 15 weeks gestation. Following the unprecedented leak of a draft majority opinion in the case, many anticipate the Court will rule in favor of Mississippi’s right to limit abortion by fully overturning both Roe v. Wade (1973) and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992) which upheld Roe

“The right to control our own bodies is supposed to be settled by now, or so we thought,” Hochul added during the signing ceremony. The governor said the new laws are meant “to immediately protect abortion access and reproductive rights.”

In a June 13 tweet, Hochul added that her “message to those who are trying to take away the fundamental right to an abortion” is: “Not here. Not now. Not ever.”

Measures included in Hochul’s pro-abortion package include laws to promote abortion tourism by blocking New York courts from issuing subpoenas or extraditing abortionists in connection with out-of-state pro-life laws, Politico reported

Other measures will shore up legal protections for people seeking to obtain abortions and sex-change procedures within New York, “prohibit disciplinary measures against health practitioners for providing legal reproductive health services to patients who reside in states where abortion is illegal; bar medical malpractice insurance companies from taking any adverse action against a reproductive health care provider who performs legal reproductive health care; and increase confidentiality for abortion providers and patients,” the outlet reported.

Kristen Curran, director of government relations for the New York State Catholic Conference, told Politico the laws will “encourage abortion tourism, rather than helping women and children who may be in need.”

“As a state that claims to value autonomy and choice, New York should stop presenting abortion as the best and only option for struggling women, and harassing any pro-life pregnancy center that may help women keep their babies. This abortion-or-nothing narrative only demeans women,” Curran said.

Hochul’s moves to promote unfettered abortion in the event that the Supreme Court overturns 49 years of abortion precedent comes as many Republican-led states have moved in the opposite direction. It’s estimated that roughly half of all states will ban or severely restrict abortion if Roe v. Wade falls, leading states on both sides of the abortion issue to take an oppositional legal posture toward one another.

Last year, Gov. Hochul took aim at Texas’ life-saving Heartbeat Act – which bans most abortions in the state – declaring that abortion will always be protected and easily accessible in the Empire State.

According to Hochul, New York’s “Lady Liberty” will be ready to “welcome” Texas women seeking abortions “with open arms.”

In March 2021, President Joe Biden used the phrase “Neanderthal thinking” when criticizing governors beginning to lift mask mandates.

CONCLUSION 473
INTRODUCTION
2021 et le 30 juin 2022) et hausse limitée de ceux de l’électricité (4 % au 1er février 2022) ;

Twitter employees debate banning Libs of TikTok
Leaked internal chats reveal that Twitter employees are discussing permanently banning Libs of TikTok, a popular account that reposts controversial content and commentary from the left.

“Twitter employees are currently debating whether to ban us. We have screenshots of their internal discussion,” Libs of TikTok wrote on Twitter.

1

The screenshots were posted on their official Substack. The Libs of TikTok founder says that they verified the validity of the Slack messages, blurring out the names of employees who made the comments. Libs of TikTok said the screenshots were sent to them by a Twitter employee who wishes to remain anonymous.

“There are a few tweeps (that’s what Twitter employees call themselves) involved in this exchange. As you can see, they’re weighing the pros and cons of banning us,” Libs of TikTok wrote on Substack.

“One of them expresses concern that a ban will only validate the charge that Twitter is biased against conservatives,” the account wrote, referring to an employee that said, “But if we deplatform this account, we might erode trust in our platform from users who already think we’re irredeemably biased against conservatives.”

“I mean we successfully deplatformed Trump – I don’t think deplatforming Libs of TikTok is going to cause a mass exodus but I guess it may not be in our ‘fiduciary’ interest to enact a ban on a high profile account right now,” another wrote.

Another employee weighed in, saying they don’t see how Libs of TikTok, which they allege “exists solely to generate targeted violence at marginalized people,” continues “to be allowed to post.”

Libs of TikTok recently posted photos of ads for a series of drag queen events for kids. The tweet was mass-reported resulting in the temporary suspension of the account last week.

1

Media Matters employees took a particular interest in the tweets, alleging that the person behind Libs of TikTok was going to get someone killed.

1

Ari Drennen posted a screenshot of the tweet that led to the suspension along with a screenshot alleging “Proud Boys” turned up at a Drag Queen Story Time event at the San Lorenzo Public Library.

The Libs of TikTok accounts posted that it is receiving death threats. Someone sent an Instagram DM that they had sent a “pipe bomb for literally supporting nazi bigots,” adding “please kill yourself at your earliest convenience.”

Tesla CEO and expected soon-to-be owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, has questioned Twitter about why the people aren’t banned for making death threats against Libs of TikTok.

INVESTIGATION

SEC continues to target Truth Social deal
The federal securities regulators are investigating a merger between an acquisition company and Donald Trump’s Truth Social, according to a filing made with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday.

We obtained a copy of the filing for you here.

The financial prospects of Truth Social are reliant on the merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC). The investigation is supposed to determine whether negotiations between the two sides began before DWAC went public.

The investigation into Truth Social was started after a request from Senator Elizabeth Warren who last year wrote a letter to the SEC Chair Gary Gensler saying that she was, « concerned for some time about the misaligned incentives underlying SPAC deals, which are often structured to exploit retail investors to the benefit of large institutional investors such as hedge funds, venture capital insiders, and investment banks. »

We obtained a copy of that letter for you here

DWAC had already revealed that it was being investigated. The Monday filing says that the SEC has expanded the investigation by requesting “additional documents and information.”

The securities regulator say it wants to know if DWAC conducted due diligence in deals with other companies other than Trump’s, its relationships with other companies, “certain elements of the transaction history for equity,” and other forward-looking statements.

Truth Social officially launched a few months ago on iPhone devices. Last month, it announced beta testing of the web app.

AD BOYCOTT

Anti free speech campaigners have hurt GB News revenue, CEO suggests
UK TV station and streaming channel GB News has faced a year-long ad boycott since its launch a year ago. The boycott even began before the station officially launched. Its CEO Angelos Frangopoulos said that the boycott is a threat to free speech.

“Commercially, this is a very serious matter. This does cause damage to the GB News business model, there is no two ways about it,” he said. “And that is something that the advertising industry itself needs to acknowledge.”

The former Sky News Australia chief executive noted that advertisers were boycotting the channel despite it following the rules by broadcasting watchdog Ofcom.

“Being part of a regulated environment should give an advertiser and a brand confidence that a broadcaster is meeting the legal requirements around impartiality,” he added, in an interview with The Telegraph.

“To then ignore that and apply what could be perceived to be some kind of commercial pressure to change that content, I think is quite dangerous for public debate and freedom of speech.”

The boycott campaign was launched by Stop Funding Hate, a campaign group that has previously targeted newspapers for promoting conservative views and launched the campaign against GB News before the channel was even launched.

Frangopoulos said that he was talking to brands and agencies who are still participating in the boycott.

“Quite frankly, it’s all perception and not reality,” he explained. « The battle GB News had before launch was a perception that was set by a hashtag on Twitter. Who do you trust: a hashtag on Twitter, or Ofcom? »

Fact checkers accuse Christina Pushaw of harassment for criticizing and showing reporter’s emails on Twitter
Fact-checking website Politifact has accused Florida’s Gov. Ron Desantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw of instigating harassment after she criticized their reporting on Twitter. Pushaw shared an email from a reporter, pointing out what she calls “incompetence and bias.”

In the article, titled “PolitiFact reporters face online harassment; we keep fact-checking anyway,” Politifact’s chief editor Angie Drobnic Holan singled out Pushaw, accusing her of harassing reporters.

Related: Claiming that criticism is « harassment » is an increasingly prevalent gatekeeping tactic among journalists

Holan said that Pushaw has a habit of posting emails she has received from reporters on Twitter, which they see as an attempt to get followers to harass the reporters.

« Reporters have alerted a press secretary that we’re writing about their boss and simply asked for comment. Within minutes, she’s published the email and slammed the reporters as incompetent, while trying to rally an online mob to attack the reporters – who are just doing their jobs, » Holan wrote.

She added: « Rather than responding to journalists’ press inquiries in a standard manner, Pushaw will attack them on Twitter, urging online mobs to vilify things that are legitimate practices of journalism.”

Responding to the article on Twitter, Pushaw wrote: « So now it’s ‘harassment’ to point out that an email from a reporter reveals incompetence and bias? But the same reporters can baselessly accuse my boss all day of much worse, with zero pushback and full support from their editors? Nah, we are not playing that game anymore.”

In another tweet, Pushaw said that Holan’s argument means Politifact reporters are harassing Gov. DeSantis.

« Fact check: Pointing out bias isn’t harassment. Also, disagreeing with regime narrative enforcers isn’t harassment. But if you think criticism is ‘harassment,’ then by your own standards, @PolitiFact is HARASSING @GovRonDeSantis… » she wrote.

Online fact-checkers are particularly controversial as their rulings on stories are often used as the basis for social media platforms to censor content if it contradicts the decision of a fact-checker.

Google plots to curb the effectiveness of ad-blockers
It’s common for corporations to take actions that ultimately are to the detriment of most consumers and Google is one of the world’s biggest. The tech giant is making changes to its Chrome Web Store, specifically an end to supporting Manifest v2 (Mv2) extensions, which will make it more difficult for adblockers to operate.

Currently, Mv2 supports all extensions on the Chrome Web Store, including ad-blocker extensions such as uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, etc. Ad-blockers are extremely popular features of the Chrome Web Store with millions of currently active users due to their functionality in blocking ads and maintaining privacy. However, starting in January 2023, Google will shift from Mv2 to Mv3, making most of these popular features obsolete.

The shift wouldn’t make it entirely impossible to adapt existing extensions; however, Mv3 would certainly reduce the functionality of ad-blockers and limit innovation in the ad blocking space.

Google, however, argues that Mv3 will continue supporting developers and will go further to protect sensitive consumer data while maintaining the same level of efficiency for extensions.

Simeon Vincent, a Chrome developer advocate, stated, “… these changes were meant to give developers a safer way to create safer and more performant ad blockers.”

A real-world consequence of this change was explained by Jean-Paul Schmetz, CEO of Ghostery. Schmetz talked to The Register about Facebook as an example, specifically the process of liking posts. While one part of the network request was harmless the other notified Facebook which posts a user saw which allowed them to target ads.

Ghostery’s ad-blocking capabilities restricted the network request, allowing users to continue liking posts while maintaining their privacy. In regards to this capability, Schmetz said, “… that is definitely something that’s going to go away with Manifest v3, the ability to modify the request as it leaves the browser.”

While these changes may seem counterintuitive to a majority of people, they make sense for Google. Google is, in fact, an ad company, and continuing to support ad blocking services takes away from their revenue.

Despite this, Chrome continues to enjoy popularity as it dominates the market – though private alternatives such as Brave are growing daily.

Professor fired for blog posts doubting « systemic racism » is allowed to return
Last year, Rima Azar, a professor of health psychology at Canada’s Mount Allison University, was suspended without pay over personal blog posts where she used what were described as “unkind words,” calling Black Lives Matter a “radical group,” and cast doubt on the existence of systemic racism.

Not only was she suspended but she was also forced to attend diversity, equity, and inclusion training.

The university’s student union president said it was « unprofessional to comment on students’ beliefs” and that students have a “right to a safe learning environment.”

The Mount Allison Black Students’ Union had called for Azar’s termination, arguing that it was “disappointing and offensive to have our experiences ridiculed by an accredited professor.”

Arbitration hearings into the issue were held earlier this year behind closed doors. The result of the hearings was Azar getting her job back.

In a joint statement, Azar and Mount Allison University said that “all matters in dispute between them have been resolved.”

“All parties have agreed that fostering a respectful and inclusive learning environment — one which also recognizes academic freedom — is of the utmost importance,” the statement added.
