Your Catholic Week in Review (Two Reports Edition!)

This week, the Lepanto published two very important reports that reveal the depth of the crisis within the Church.  What I’m about to tell you about is distressing, but after I give you the information, I’m going to try to explain why you should not get discouraged, but in fact should be filled with hope.

On Monday, we reported on Pope Francis’s unrelenting commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.  The two most serious problems with the SDGs are that 1) they promote abortion and contraception, and 2) the goals line up with the international Communist agenda for the last 100 years.  You can read that report here: https://www.lepantoin.org/pope-francis-promotes-goals-created-by-communists/

Yesterday, we published a report on the fact that the USCCB (through the Campaign for Human Development), just provided a $750,000 “strategic grant” that will be paid out over the next three years to an organization that is absolutely committed to the homosexual indoctrination of high school aged kids and young adults.  The grant is going to an organization called the Ignatian Solidarity Network, and both its website and its annual conferences encourage kids to “come out” with perverse sexual identities, fight for so-called “LGBT rights,” and even encourage transgenderism.  So, while the bishops of the United States were meeting in Baltimore this week discussing the sexual abuse of kids, their own project was shoveling three-quarters of a million dollars to a group dedicated to the indoctrination of kids in sexual perversions.  You can read that report here: https://www.lepantoin.org/us-bishops-send-750k-to-lgbt-promoting-ignatian-network/

We sent out a fundraising appeal earlier in the week regarding the first report, and if you haven’t had an opportunity to support us in our efforts to continue providing this vital information to you, please take a prayerful moment to consider a gift of $35, $55, $100, $250, or even $500.  We can only continue to do this work through your generous donations and prayers.

The other day, someone asked me how I can continue to dig through this kind of thing day in and day out, and report on it.  I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t wearying, but to be perfectly honest, the more I find this stuff, the more hopeful I get.  Let’s face it, the devil and its companions always operate in the dark and hate to be exposed.  But information like this serves two very important purposes:

  1. It helps you to understand the current crisis so you can remain grounded.  One of the worst feelings in the world is to be confused, feel lost, feel like things are out of control, and to feel helpless.  People with chronic and undiagnosed ailments often find a sense of great relief once they know what is causing them to be sick.  People who are lost, even if they are hours or even days away from their destination are relieved when they realize where they are.  Knowing and understanding why things are crumbling around us is relieving because it realigns out thoughts toward solutions.
  2. Once you know and understand the problem, you can then do something about it and help others to remain grounded as well.

Here’s the thing, there are things within your control and things beyond your sphere of influence.  Pope Francis and his gang in the Vatican most definitely have an agenda, and there is nothing (humanly speaking) we can do about it.  But this realization that the problem is beyond our control is both liberating and empowering.  It liberates us because if we can’t do anything about it, we aren’t responsible for what happens.  It’s like a volcano or an earthquake … you can’t stop it and you’re not responsible for the damage they cause, but if you have knowledge, you will be in a better position to take shelter or help others.

When faced with the material we present to you, our hope is that you will be empowered to withhold your funds where necessary, be inspired to pray and offer sacrifices for those causing the problems, and help encourage others to know that despite the best efforts of the enemies of the Cross, the Sacraments will remain, the Church will still be beautiful, and God will not be mocked for long.

As Fulton Sheen said so often, it is always blackest just before the dawn.  I would also remind you that our entire faith began with the greatest apparent defeat in all human history: The Son of God was crucified, died, and buried.  But if death cannot overcome the Son of God, it will not overcome His Mystical Bride.  It is easy for all of us to follow the path of St. Peter, walking out of the boat and onto the waters.  And just like Peter, it isn’t long before we take our eyes off Christ and pay too much attention to the wind and the waves, causing us to sink.

So, don’t lose heart, and don’t be disturbed by the things we present to you.  This information is meant to help you understand where we are in this crisis, so you can reorient your focus back on Christ, offer it all to Him, begging Him to deliver us from this evil age and bring the light of dawn back to His Bride.
